MTUD have recently completed a detailed residential led master plan and development briefs for the heart of Flint Town centre on the North Wales coast. Originally a fortified town based on a military grid the new master plan looks to put back the original historic town structure following its destruction in the 70’s through the building of a number of maisonette blocks. Now being demolished the maisonettes are to be replaced with a mix of up to 200 new homes designed around proper streets, gardens and lanes.
The new housing is designed to complement the existing local vernacular, materials and forms. New linear public gardens are designed to mark the location and outline of the original fortifications. The Flintshire Cabinet signed off the detailed master plan and Development briefs in May 2013.
